Distributor-investor principles draft released by trade associations

Five trade associations – grouped together as the Joint Action Committee (Jac) – have released an exposure draft of ‘Structured Products: Principles for Managing the Distributor-Individual Investor Relationship’. The principles complement those affecting the distribution of structured products to individual investors agreed and released in July 2007 by the same trade association collective, the 10 so-called ‘Principles for Managing the Provider-Distributor Relationship’.

“The principles provide common sense guidance on how firms can continue to enhance services targeted toward a growing number of individual investors,” says Timothy Hailes, managing director and associate general counsel at JP Morgan Chase in London who is chairman of the joint-associations working group that developed the principles.
