Barclays launches fixed-rate bond

Barclays Capital has launched a new fixed-rate bond which pays a 4% annualised coupon on a yearly basis to investors. The bond has a five-year life, and investors can opt to receive 22% at maturity instead of the 4% yearly income.

The investment is structured around a deposit, which falls under the government-backed Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Return of capital is guaranteed at maturity, but not if investors choose to sell the bond before the end of the five years. The minimum investment is £10,000.
