Barclays adds US option to Supertracker

Barclays Wealth has expanded its five-year Supertracker plan offering UK customers a US-option. The move comes in response to customer demand for more short-dated notes in current uncertain markets, says Colin Dickie, director of Barclays Wealth.

"Investors want to get a return and see what it looks like next year rather than be locked up for a full five years", adds Dickie.

Previously, the Supertracker gave investors returns based on the FTSE 100 index but Barclays has added a US-linked option on the five-year plan - which gives investors the choice of investing either solely in the UK or US, or splitting their investment across the two indexes. The new US-option offers four times the first 22.5% rise in the S&P 500, subject to a maximum
