Barclays Wealth adds Bansal

Satya Narayan Bansal has joined Barclays Wealth as head of its onshore private banking business in India, moving from ICICI’s Singapore-based private banking business where he was head for South East Asia.

The appointment of Bansal follows the expansion of Barclays Wealth since the end of 2005, when Thomas Kalaris, previously chief executive, Americas of Barclays Capital, took the lead.

The wealth management arm of Barclays has plans to invest $725 million in its people and infrastructure between 2006 and 2009, hiring more than 700 staff internationally last year, 60% of which were client facing staff.

Other senior hires in the Asia Pacific include Didier von Daeniken, Credit Suisse’s former co-head
