LLB and ABN launch first Islamic exchange-traded trackers

Liechtensteinische Landesbank Switzerland and ABN Amro have launched the first Islamic exchange-traded index trackers linked to the performance of the LLB Mena indexes. The Islamic certificates have been listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange, and ABN will provide intra-day liquidity subject to a bid-offer spread.

The LLB Mena indexes provide a transparent benchmark for Shariah-compliant investors seeking exposure to the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region. “Middle Eastern investors are rediscovering the merits of investing in their local markets,” says Nico Tschui, deputy head of Middle East at LLB. “Moreover, we are expecting an inflow of foreign institutional investors to participate in the region
