Malaysia’s Maybank offers capital guaranteed fund

Malaysia’s Malayan Banking (Maybank) has launched the Far East Capital Guaranteed (FECG) - an investment-linked fund that offers exposure to two Asian indexes: Hang Seng Index, Hong Kong’s stock index and TOPIX, which includes all companies listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE).

The fund is a three-year plan where an investor’s capital investment is guaranteed upon maturity of the fund’s tenure. Maybank says the fund’s objective is to provide investors zero-risk on their initial capital investment and upside potential for capital gains.

To achieve a higher potential return of FECG, the fund will invest in both the equity markets for capital gains with some apportioned for fixed income instruments to enable the fund to achieve its investment objectives.
