HSBC offers emerging titans

HSBC Global Banking and Markets has launched the Optimised Global Emerging Markets (Gem) Titans Index, which is designed to provide exposure to the largest companies in major emerging markets economies. The index is designed to underlie financial instruments such as structured products.

The index, which comprises 50 constituents, gives exposure to 10 regions encompassing Brazil, China, India, Mexico, New Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania), Russia, South Africa, South Korea and Turkey. The index captures sectors covering energy, banks, insurance companies, telecoms, consumer, and information technology. China, the largest global emerging economy has the highest weight in the index with 30% followed by Russia with 14%, Brazil with 12% and India with 10%.
