European securitisation issuance boosted by RMBS and CDOs

Issuance in the European securitisation market rose 54.1% in the first nine months of 2006 and is on track to eclipse last year’s record full-year issuance total of €350 billion, according to the European Securitisation Forum (ESF).

Issuance in the third quarter was €107.1 billion, a 150% increase on the same period a year ago, predominantly driven by the residential mortgage-backed security (RMBS) and collateralised debt obligation (CDO) sectors.
