CDO market faces bleak 2008 – Moody’s

Rating agency Moody’s predicts a tough year ahead for the European CDO market, with issuance volumes falling by up to 50% and any recovery in the sector dependent on improvements in transparency.

“A major question mark for 2008 is the recovery of investors’ confidence," says Moody's in its yearly CDO outlook for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This is unlikely to improve until the effects of deteriorating US subprime mortgages, especially on financial institutions, have been fully measured.
