Latest warning over US ABS

Rating agency Fitch believes that the outlook for the ABS sector in the US is “less favourable” moving into 2008.

It cites forecasts for lower consumer spending and slowing income growth as putting downward pressure on the sector for the remainder of this year and into the next.

“There has been little ripple effect thus far for credit card, auto and student loan ABS, however changes in consumer spending, employment growth, and increased household debt leverage are signalling that asset
