DB defectors set up new fund

A 12-strong Deutsche Bank hedge fund team, led by Davide Erro, has left the bank in order to set up a new hedge fund. The fund, called Gandhara Capital, will be based in Hong Kong, and has start-up capital of around $1 billion. The fund will invest in Asia and Europe.

It is not unusual for senior traders and fund managers to leave large investment banks to set up hedge funds with other senior market participants. It is rare, however, for an entire division to spin itself off into a stand-alone
