Credit ratings newcomer hires ex-S&P president

Regulatory scrutiny of the main credit rating agencies is increasing over concerns that the 'issuer pays' model risks a conflict of interest. Rapid Ratings International, which operates a 'subscriber pays' model, claims to offer an alternative, and has recently won influential support from a former senior executive at Standard & Poor's.

Kathleen Corbet, once a president at S&P, has joined Rapid Ratings' advisory board and has made an equity investment through her private firm, Cross Ridge Capital
