SEC to continue with adviser inspection

Regulatory update

WASHINGTON, DC - The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will continue to inspect hedge fund advisers that have registered with the agency under the court-annulled 'hedge funds rule', according to SEC chairman Christopher Cox.

According to SEC records, as a result of the court ruling, 40 hedge fund advisers had deregistered from the commission as of August 24. Alternative investments lawyers say many hedge fund advisers continue to seek counsel on whether to deregister with the agency.
