A veteran of the private banking industry in India, Arpit Agarwal recently left ICICI Bank to head up Dawnay Day Group's new Indian joint venture. Paul Lyon asked him about his experiences of structured products in the country

Arpit Agarwal has conceived, launched and successfully built large private banking businesses in India for DSP Merrill Lynch (from 1993 to 1998), BNP Paribas (from 1999 to 2002) and ICICI Bank (from 2002 to this year), and has hands-on experience with high-net-worth Indian clients - both resident and non-resident - across the globe.

Agarwal is now the chief executive officer of Dawnay Day AV Financial Services Private Limited (DDAV), the Indian joint venture of UK-based Dawnay Day Group and Alok
