A year of opportunities

Commodities, property and CPPI. These are the hot topics for 2005 if discussions at last month’s structured products for wealth management conference in Zurich are anything to go by. Paul Lyon reports

Delegates at a conference organised by IQPC in Zurich last month appeared to agree that 2005 could well be the year for structured products linked to commodities and property. What’s more, a number of attendees were also upbeat about the possibilities provided by constant proportion portfolio insurance (CPPI), arguing that the use of CPPI is preferential to an options-based approach.

Denis Cohen Bengio, Paris-based head of retail product management for AXA Investment Management, noted that while
