As a rule of thumb, nascent structured product markets develop at the same pace as the broader economy of the country concerned. The ongoing commodity bull-run engulfing the global market has had a unique effect on the economy in Chile, whose copper exports have soared in line with China's increasing demand for the metal. And the cash swirling around Chile's financial markets has inevitably proved a catalyst for the demand for structured products.
