Global downturn drags issuance levels lower

Trading and issuance volumes of structured products dwindled towards the end of 2008, as providers and investors began to suffer the effects of the global economic downturn, latest figures show. In Switzerland, both the number and volume of listed products fell in December 2008. The market also contracted in Germany, although falls stabilised in November, according to the trade association Deutscher Derivate Verband (DDV). In the US, NYSE Euronext recorded fewer listings than in 2007 as a result
