FSA rethinks rules on hedge fund marketing


The UK Financial Services Authority's (FSA) concern that UK retail investors can gain access to German hedge funds via the internet is prompting the FSA to re-evaluate its current prohibition on the marketing of hedge funds to individual investors.

Addressing a Select Committee enquiry into financial services regulation last month, FSA chief executive John Tiner said the European Union e-commerce directive, (which is based on the idea that online business can be provided anywhere in the EU so
