Calpine trades up

US power company Calpine installed a new trading floor this year due both to its own growth and its aim to provide more companies with energy services. Joe Marsh reports

California-based Calpine has transformed itself in recent years from a major developer of power plants into a power plant operator and energy-services provider. This shift was reflected by the company’s installation earlier this year of a trading floor in a new office in Houston, says Stephen Webster, Calpine’s director of enterprise infrastructure services.
