Verizon downgrade review puzzles investors



Standard & Poor’s has provoked surprise among some credit analysts by placing the A+ long-term credit rating for telecom company Verizon Communications and its affiliates on review for downgrade, despite some relatively positive financial performance over the past three quarters.

Verizon is the latest of the regional bell operating companies (RBOCs) to have its credit ratings placed on review for downgrade by the rating agency, a move based on concerns over the uncertain wireline regulatory
