Ontario Teachers Pension Plan's Risk Practice Survives '98

NEW YORK--At a recent seminar on risk management for fund managers, jointly sponsored by IBM and Reuters, the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board demonstrated its proven risk practice. Despite extreme market mayhem in the latter half of 1998, Ontario's performance bested 75 per cent of Canadian fund managers.

Leo de Bever, vice president for research and economics at Ontario, said, "What 1998 did for us is that it moved risk management from an academic exercise into a real world situation."
