Hannover Re To Securitize Life Assurance Risks

HANNOVER Re, the German reinsurance company, is attempting to securitize the risks associated with life assurance. The reinsurance company is currently developing contracts for life assurance bonds.

A Hannover spokesperson says details of the new bonds will be finalized by year end. Eberhard Mueller, senior vice president of Hannover, says this is the first time an insurance company has tried to securitize life assurance risk.
