UK retail customers to trade warrants

Equity derivatives dealers are preparing this month to sell, for the first time, warrants directly to UK retail customers, in what they hope will be the start of a significant new market.

The Financial Services Authority, the UK’s main financial regulator, approved the marketing and sale of warrants to retail investors in August. Trading is due to start on September 23 on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), although dealers warn that this date could change if there is a delay in setting up the
