Yibin Mu

Yibin Mu is a Senior Economist in the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department. He previously worked in the African Department on South Africa, Lesotho, and Sierra Leone. Before joining the IMF, he spent 11 years at the World Bank as a Senior Financial Economist across Asia, Europe, and the Financial Vice Presidency, and eight years at the Hongkong Monetary Authority and the People’s Bank of China, where he supervised foreign banks and contributed to China’s financial reform policies. His expertise covers macro-financial, monetary, and fiscal policies, as well as prudential supervision and regulation and financial market development. He holds an MC-MPA from Harvard University and a PhD in economics and a master’s degree in finance from Tsinghua University, China. He was a CFA charter holder (2006-13).
