Marcos Suoto

Marcos Souto is a Senior Economist in the Debt Policy Division of the IMF’s Strategy, Policy, and Review Department, with a background in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Finance from the George Washington University. Since joining the IMF in 2004, Marcos Souto has worked as a financial economist on nearly 30 countries, served as IMF Resident Representative in Portugal and Angola, and currently coordinates updates to the Debt Sustainability Analyses for Market Access Countries (SRDSF), contributes to UN publications on debt in least developed and low-income countries, manages SRDSF training activities, and co-manages related financial resources with the World Bank. Marcos Souto is recognized for strong analytical skills, policy expertise, and effective engagement with senior officials and international organizations, and has published extensively on sovereign debt, risk management, and financial sector analysis.
