Jochen Gerhard

Jochen Gerhard is Vice President and AI Risk Specialist in Group Risk Management at Commerzbank. His work focuses on model risk management, AI governance and the validation of novel artificial intelligence-based models and methods across the bank. Before his focus on artificial intelligence Mr Gerhard conducted various validations in credit risk and operational risk.
Before joining Commerzbank, Mr Gerhard was a manager in the financial services practice of consulting firm BearingPoint, advising European banks and international supervisory authorities insurers on risk architecture, regulatory change and data analytics.
Mr Gerhard holds a doctorate in computer science and complemented his technical training with executive education at Yale School of Management. He is a regular contributor to industry discussions on AI in risk management, speaking on topics such as explainability, validation of machine learning models and the organisational integration of “quants and hackers” within three lines of defence frameworks.
