Emma McWilliam

Emma McWilliam is an actuary and consultant with Milliman in London. She has significant experience in the area of annuities and longevity risk, having worked internationally advising clients at insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks and institutional investors.

Emma has particular expertise working on longevity risk related projects. Her work has included advising on the acquisition of blocks of annuity business, setting longevity pricing bases and assisting with the risk management of annuities. She has also reviewed longevity portfolio transfers, undertaken strategic assignments to identify life insurance securitisation opportunities and worked on the development of longevity bond and swap structures for transferring this risk to the capital markets. She is a regular presenter at international industry conferences and has contributed to a number of publications and articles, on a range of subjects including longevity risk, Solvency II and International Financial Reporting Standards.

Emma is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She has more than 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry, working as a consultant and at reinsurance companies in the US, Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, France and Belgium.
