Danica Marsden

Dr. Danica Marsden is Principal Quantum Computing Scientist at the Bank of Canada. After completing her PhD in experimental physics from the University of Pennsylvania and a postdoc at Caltech as a Keck Institute for Space Studies fellow, she worked for two quantum computing start-ups, DWave Systems and Photonic, building quantum computers. In her role at the Bank of Canada, she drafted the first Quantum Strategy for the Bank, and supports Canada’s leadership in the G7 on the topic of quantum. Her work on several proof of concept projects applying quantum computing to central banking research such as for optimizing payments systems, have been published in top peer-reviewed journals and presented in numerous industry and academic conferences.
