Future for algorithmic trading on energy markets

Algorithmic trading is significant in all markets and in many it dominates volume. The more open a market is, the more likely algorithmic trading will play a significant role. This is not the case, however, in European over-the-counter (OTC) energy markets.

Compared to other established marketplaces, algorithmic trading is underdeveloped in percentage volume terms in European OTC energy markets. This is surprising. A number of the markets are deep and liquid enough to support algorithmic trading
