36 South opens volatility hedge fund for US pensions

US pension funds are attracted by the low correlation to mainstream asset classes offered by 36 South's flagship fund, says its CIO. He says European funds should not ignore the US market

US investors seek diversification through hedge fund strategies

Volatility specialist 36 South Capital Advisors is offering an Employee Retirement Income Security Act (Erisa)-compliant version of its flagship fund following demand from US pension funds.

The Kohinoor Core Fund will open the Cayman-domiciled version on May 7. It will be open to investment from pension funds and other non-taxable US investors. Currently the fund is only available onshore with an Irish domicile.
