Index provider Stoxx is considering launching indices encompassing the markets of the 10 nations to enter the EU on 1 May 2004 if clients request them. Ettore Candolfi, Stoxx managing director, said indices covering the acceding states' markets was the logical step in expanding the firm's current suite of European-focused indices. Candolfi added there would probably be one index encompassing the 10 countries, then indices covering different regions. The countries awaiting membership are Poland
