Life offices represent a significant business opportunity for hedge fund specialists as they increasingly exploit the opportunities offered by alternative investment strategies.

Life companies employ hedge fund strategies to boost the attractiveness of their own fund offerings and as such form part of a new breed of investor fuelling demand for hedge funds.

BoE Life International Limited (BoELI), for example, it has been investing approximately 50% of its offshore with-profits fund in hedge funds
