London-based Griffin Capital Management has historically been known as an Eastern European and Russian hedge fund manager, founded in 1997.

In June 2004, however, the Berkeley Square operation launched the Griffin European Hedge Fund, under the management of Austrian Harald Wengust, who joined Griffin in August 2002 to run Griffin's European Opportunities Fund, its long-only Western Europe portfolio.
