RBoS team forms its own alternatives firm, Cognis

The special investments team at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBoS) has formed its own alternative asset management firm, called Cognis Capital Partners.

Myra Tabor, Paul Hollowday and John Sullivan, who ran the bank's alternative investing business, will continue to manage the bank's $398m portfolio.

They are expected to bring in new investors after the fund they run is approved by Britain's Financial Services Authority (FSA).

The team will continue to run the strategy they established in 1997
