Europe and Japan trail US, says report

US pension funds, endowments and foundations are leading the way as hedge fund investors compared with European and Japanese institutions. The fifth edition of Goldman Sachs' and Frank Russell's report on Alternative Investing by Tax Exempt Organisations, has found that allocations by North American respondents stand at US$12bn, while European respondents have almost US$2bn invested and Japanese respondents have committed US$665m.

Interestingly, more Japanese respondents currently invest in hedge
