Smaller hedge funds by their very nature are price-sensitive and are therefore looking for a cheaper service and lower minimum fees, and consequently they will not be going with the bigger names in the administration space, says David Aldrich, managing director of the Bank of New York Mellon.

Dermot Butler, chairman of Custom House Administration in Dublin, concurs: "smaller hedge funds are going to be looking for the keenest possible price from their administrator.
