The barriers to entry have risen significantly following 2008 and the appetite of large institutional investors to allocate to new funds before they have a significant track record has diminished. Investors with a track record in picking strong new managers raised substantial funds for seeding purposes in 2010 and the pipeline looks encouraging for 2011.
