Hope for increased use of derivatives exchanges by hedge funds

Derivatives exchanges expect to increase the amount of business they do with hedge funds in 2009, despite experiencing a decline in trading volumes as markets deteriorated in the second half of 2008.

Volumes on the international derivatives exchanges fell by almost 10% in the third quarter of 2008, according to figures released by the Bank of International Settlements.
