Ireland holds a unique position in the fund administration world. During the boom years of the hedge fund industry the jurisdiction developed an expertise in administering alternative funds from all over the world, regulated and non-regulated.

Industry participants in Ireland estimate that around 40%–50% of fund administration business in the country involves offshore funds. The rest of the work comes from onshore, regulated funds. The split means that the changing environment for hedge funds
