Carrefour launches fund ordinaire

French supermarket chain Carrefour, has launched a hedge fund aimed at opening up the market up to ordinary investors.

The Carrefour Optimal hedge fund will be open to investors for a minimum investment of just US$880 (E1,000). The fund is a multi-manager/multi-strategy hedge fund that uses arbitrage techniques to identify anomalies in the market, thereby exposing investment opportunities.

The intention of the launch is to widen the access to hedge funds, according to Carrefour. The company
