New Star provides additional exposure to Japan and Asia

New Star Asset Management is to launch a long/short Japan fund to quench the thirst of institutional investors who want separate hedge fund exposure in Japan and Asia ex Japan.

Charlie Tritton, head of alternative investments at New Star, said the asset management company was looking to launch the fund, to be called the New Star Japan Hedge Fund, and promote it in September and October.

The portfolio is already up and running, with between $20m and $40m seed money garnered from three investors
