European banks disclose €120bn of private credit exposure

Deutsche Bank and Barclays lead disclosed totals in Q1, but reporting gaps hamper comparison

European banks disclosed €122.1 billion ($141.9 billion) of private credit exposures as of March 31, with Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas accounting for the largest reported totals – though inconsistent disclosures mean the figure offers only a partial view of the sector’s links to the asset class. 

Deutsche Bank had the highest disclosed exposure in absolute terms among 33 banks analysed by Risk
