Large hedge funds push leverage to post-pandemic high

OFR data shows renewed build-up as regulators eye reporting changes

The 10 largest US hedge funds increased leverage to the highest level since 2019 at the end of last year, according to data from the Office of Financial Research (OFR).

As of December 31, the largest funds held assets worth 23.9 times their equity, up from 18.2 times three months earlier. This was the highest since the 24.6 times reported in Q2 2019, and the second highest in nearly 13 years of
