CCP default funds grew to record size ahead of Iran war

End-2025 figures show widespread increases in prefunded resources

Total default resources stood at $107.2 billion across 24 central counterparties (CCPs) at the end of 2025, marking a record high ahead of the turbulence seen earlier this year.

Aggregated default funds – including CCPs’ own capital and member contributions – rose 2.3% quarter on quarter, although several individual clearing houses recorded much larger increases.
