US hedge funds post near-record low share of securities collateral
SEC data shows $3.66 trillion tied to posted securities at end-2024, down 10% in three months
US Treasuries and other securities made up 60.5% of collateral posted by US hedge funds at the end of 2024, narrowly above the all-time low of 60.3% recorded in Q1 2020.
Securities collateral totalled $3.66 trillion out of a $6.04 trillion aggregate, according to data from the Securities and Exchange Commission. This was down 10.1% from the previous quarter’s $4.07 trillion, which was the highest
