EU and UK CCPs dominated by foreign members

Non-domestic clearing members accounted for over 70% of LCH’s and Eurex’s pool in Q3

The majority of clearing members at LCH, Eurex and Ice Clear Europe were based in different jurisdictions from their respective central counterparties (CCPs) in Q3, Risk Quantum research shows, in stark contrast with US and Japanese clearing houses.

Among 30 clearing services analysed across 10 CCPs in four regions, nine reported a majority of foreign firms in their members’ pool and were all based in the UK or the European Union.
