OCC members' default fund payments drop 39% in 2018

Members of the Options Clearing Corporation saw their mandatory contributions to the central counterparty's default fund fall to $9 billion at end-2018 compared with $14.7 billion the year prior, reflecting a switch in the methodology used to calculate its default resources last September.

The $5.7 billion cut brought total participant required contributions to their lowest level since the second quarter of 2017. It made for a third consecutive quarterly reduction in the amount of required
