Global banking sector equity surged in 2017

Surplus of assets over liabilities increased 17% in the year – BIS data

Worldwide bank equity levels surged in 2017, growing $874 billion, or 17%.

Consolidated banking statistics compiled by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) shows that equity, measured as total assets minus liabilities, increased during the period at banks in all 20 reporting countries for which data was made available.
