Switzerland has pioneered an economic approach to insurance supervision, and the process is now reaching a critical stage. Monica Machler, director of the Swiss Federal Office of Insurance Supervision (FOPI), talks to Life & Pensions. Nicholas Dunbar reports

Could you clarify the current status of the Swiss insurance supervisory law (ISL), particularly evolution of the Swiss Solvency Test (SST).

We are glad to confirm that implementation of the new insurance supervisory law is well on track. On one side this includes the SST implementation, which is a process that runs from 2006 to the beginning of 2011. In addition to that
