Basel regulators set to issue QIS 3 spreadsheets soon

The move is designed to enable banks to start collecting relevant data now and overcome the time constraint that has limited the effectiveness of previous surveys connected with the controversial and oft-delayed Basel II bank capital adequacy accord. The regulators hope to bring the complex accord into force for major banks in late 2006.
